Saturday, 20th Pere Marquette "The Salmon Run”. Leave Fenton early Saturday morning, arrive at the river around 10 a.m., spot the cars, float the river, have a riverside lunch, finish the trip, and return home Saturday evening. OPTIONAL - This would be a great overnight trip with us heading home on Sunday morning. For those interested in Saturday night entertainment, Johnny’s Dance Hall in nearby Custer, MI is a large, very popular and well known place to dance; a definite blue jeans place. There’s also a nice 1 1/2 hour float possible on Sunday that ends at the campground. This camping option is open for discussion. Jim 810-499-7311, Barb, 810458-4242

The Lansing Oar and Paddle Club will be assisting with advice and safety on the river. They have been active all summer clearing the river of obstructions and improving access. Now they will be helping with loading and unloading boats as well as periodically patrolling the river as people float downstream. Please contact Jay Hanks (810) 348-5906 with your availability to participate in this event as part of LOAPC!

Paddle / Pedal --- Just in case you want to avoid the water some Sunday -- keep the Friends of the Flint River Trail in mind: Sunday continue EVERY Sunday through October -- leaving the Flint Farmers' Market at 2:00 PM for (a) a "family fun ride" of about 5-7 miles at an easy pace; or, (b) the "regular" ride -- still easy and family friendly of about 13 miles total. No fee / no membership / just "show up and ride" (Helmets strongly recommended)

People borrowing kayaks from other members need to bring their own life jacket that fits. If they need to purchase one, they need to invest in a paddling jacket, skiing and regular boating jackets will not be that comfortable on long paddles. They should also try them with several layers of clothes, even a winter jacket, for those early spring and fall days
